Trying to hold a "painterly" feel within the artwork of this film.

It looks...well....green.... As a piece of art I like it. How much was done in 3D? A lot of it looks like it could be knocked up in photoshop...is it a still from an animated piece?

Thanks! I take it as a high compliment that this looks like a Photoshop painting!

Everything in this image, (sans text, which is overlaid, of course,) was rendered with LightWave 3D. If I recall correctly, there were nine layers in all, which Digital Fusion, took, combined and output what you see here. (DF is a most amazing comositing package -- from someone who has used a few.)

This image is from an eight-second shot from the opening. The camera pushes in, turning as it does... gives some lovely parallaxing of the approximately 800,000 leaves and 150 bamboo stalks.

I wanted to capture the unearthly green of a healthy bamboo forest... it feels like you're on another planet... (Though some stands of bamboo are so dense it defies reason.)

Because I'd worked this as a moving shot, I totally hadn't noticed the detritus looking like a gap in the floor-covering. You've very sharp eyes Rei. Now that you mention it, my eyes are drawn right to it.

It wouldn't take much to fix it, but you know... some times you just have to get things out-the-door. (It's far too easy to get lost in the details... even, or especially, when there is a deadline to meet. "Is it good? Great! Ship it!" :P )

And besides, "Only Great Spirit is capable of creating perfection."

And thanks very much for the offer of music, Elfling Bard... But as part of this whole gig is to show what can be done, even if you're an "army of one," the music is something I need to do myself as well...
