hey there,
i think i ve got a serious newbie question.
i was so into modeling that ive never been to a point where i had to animate a camera
.... so my docent told us that controling the camera in maya just with keyframes is difficult so there is a better way... unfortunately i missed the course :)

looking for tutorials isnt that easy maybe i dont know the right term for it?
in the near future i want to know all about it but right now it woul be enough to know how i can slow down a simple camera movement in the end/start .. to make it a "movie like" camera movement...

thank you
so long..

Actually you can animate it as anything else in maya, so there are possibilities.

But if we talk about camera movement i would think about at few things:
- animating target of a camera
- animating camera on motion path
- keyframe animation
- everything in conjunction

:)

hey DruG
thanks for your reply.

i got an animation with the camera just from one keyframe to another. so far so good. its when the animation starts an when it ends its way to sharp. its like an "camera crane" movement in a landscape.

so i got the animation from a to b and ive got absolutly no idea how to say that it should slow down in the end. maybe something with the tangents of the camera but i havent found the "speed node" yet :)

thanks

:)

Just open Window > Animation > Graph Editor

Select your camera and now you should see curves for your animation. Pick the one you need to slow down and set proper tangent :)

ok now i found the dopesheet window and with some trial and error i did it ...
i am not yet familiar with those tangents ...
but you could have mentioned that it was "scale" i had to play with :)

thanks anyway

Scale? :>

I think you just have to read about animation in maya:) Open that help file and get to work! ;)

hmm at least it works ... somehow :)

maybe i can ask you another one ...
now its time to render ...
but waht are you doing when you got animated paint effects and you d like to render an occlusion layer?

thanks again

Rendering is not my cup of tea:) TRy rendering or maya specific forum
