I was wondering, ...for example how the hell do you make a glass window smash and have holes init...like in metal gear solid 2 on the tanker.

You can try the Shatter Effect on your glass geometry and throw in some gravity to the scene inorder to make the pieces fall nicely to the ground or fly through the air. As far as the bullet holes in the glass maybe create two pieces of glass, 1 normal with no broken areas and 1 or 2 with bullet holes. Just animate the visibility on each piece of glass. So before the bullet hits have the non damaged glass visible then when the bullet hits turn off the normal glass and the damaged one On. You just have to key it right so it looks some what seemless.

Ive done this where a bullet hits a cement column, pieces flying. Worked pretty good.

dont need much of a tutorial....its just a stepped keyframe on the visibility attribute....

you could even add an attribute to one of the glass to have its visibility to be 0 when then the atrribute of the other glass to be 1....this is done via the expression editor, this would mean u only need to keyframe one piece of glass

what i would like to know is what about multiple bullet holes....would u need seperate geo for each bullet hole then animate the visibility on that?

Heres a rough playblast (http://www.cydonian.com/transfer/column_scene2.avi) of the scene. Not perfect but it works ok. Pretty simple.

Hey err...could you give me..if you dont mind....a quick step by step guide to how you did that playblast....im having a slight problem with the shatter effect..ie..it shatters...but cant make it shatter at one particular point i want it to shatter and the shatter bits wont bounce with the collision....im nearly there...if you could do that...that would be much appreciated.

Yeah man, that was a truly cool playblast. If you have good texturing/shading on there, I'd LOVE to see this rendered.

As for multiple bullet holes, the best way to do this IMO is to have one "main" glass surface with holes in it, and then seperate "fills" of those holes that you disable visibility on.
