Hi there,

I originally submitted this piece to the 2D WIP section for critique but I didn't get a whole lot of feedback . So I've decided to promote it to the Finished Work section. I'd still like to hear any comments or suggestions y'all might have. Here's the original post for background info:

I'm trying to make an effort to get back into illustration, and I've seen a lot of incredible work on this forum in the past. So I thought I'd submit a recent character design of mine for feedback. It's more or less done, but there's room for fine tuning based on the feedback I may get here. More info on this character can be found at the following section of my website:

This image was hand-drawn and inked - then scanned into Photoshop where I colored it with the mouse. It took maybe 10 hours total. At some point I may design an environment around her.

I embedded a small version below, and you'll also find a link to the larger one. Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions!

I should mention too that I also submitted a Flash vector version of this character about a year ago (including some test animation). You can find that thread at: http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=182459

I dunno either  ... but thanks for the kind words, guys.

By the way, in case anyone's interested, here's a progress shot from early on: the original pencil with most of the inking done:

Well of course she is - she's based after my girlfriend, not that my gal's a ninja in real life... ...or is she? ;)

Thanks for the suggestions. I was wondering: which shadows are you referring to? Do you mean the cast shadow on the background, or the actual shadow areas on the figure? I agree that the cast shadow is definitely pretty sharp and should probably be softened and faded toward the far edge, but since there's no real background, I didn't worry about it much.

As for the body shadows, are there any ones in particular that seem too dark or sharp? They look good to me, though if you're using a Windows machine, the display gamma is probably darker than my Mac, so I'm not sure. Could you provide a bit more detail?

Any other comments or crit?

Thanks!
-Tone
