i have read a few places that in MR i can make a camera output shader to enable the piz compression at framebuffer write time. how do i do that in maya?

i saw some where, some one changed some copression settings in the maya.env but i am not sure how to do that either.

currently our pipe uses maya and shake mostly (on osx) and i can re compress a 5 channel (rgbaz) exr using shake but nothing with more channels ie: beauty, diffuse, irradiance, indirect, spec, reflection, shadow, etc.... as they are lost in shake's output... so i have to use nuke to recompress and it tkes a long time and i hate having to do it. why isn't this done at render time anyway????

if anyone has any advice or solutions for this problem i would be overjoyed to read them
thanks in advance for any help

As far as i am aware, it is not possible to directly change the exr compression from within maya.

I understand it is possible to change it if you are rendering out to mr standalone, by altering the text within the .mi file.

String to search:
output "exr"

replace with:

output "exr" compress "PIZ"

Valid values for the compress parameter are "PIZ", "ZIP", "PXR24", and "RLE" (default)
