hi guys...This is a model I'm workin on as I speak...My fathers old drum.
He used to be an drummer is his early days and he has a little scale model of his set.

If I'm done with makin' the original then I'm planning to make an giant drum with a double kick, about 8 troms, lots of cymbals, mutliple snares...you name it!
(BTW...got my idea from somebody else to make that :D)

Tell me what you think.

That's great, but I'd suggest adding some more detail to the toms... I think that's it. I'm in a band, but I play the guitar, and I don't know too much about the drums... but it seems your style to model all the details. I'd suggest modeling everything on there. Actually, you might have not even missed anything...

All in all, It's a great model. Can't wait to see it textured!

Ive was in a band for a while and Ive been around drums for some time now, and overall I think your model looks pretty good. Just a couple things that caught my eye.

The cymbals look to big in relationship to the rest of the kit. Maybe scale them down a bit, or make them different sizes in diameter as they would be on a real kit.

Also, the hi-hat looks a little odd. It looks to large in diameter in relationship to the kit. You can barely see the post which goes thru the cymbals, possibly make that a little 'thicker' and more of it should be protruding thru. I would also leave a gap of some sort between the individual cymbals of the hi-hat, IMO that would look better.

The hardware on kit looks good to me, however as stated before, it looks like your style is pretty detail oriented. If this is the case, I would show the chain linkage on the hi-hat and bass pedals.

Looks really good so far! Lookin forward to seeing a textured render.

thank u guys for your comments...but I don't think the cymbals should be smaller...I hear that many times..but my reference has those big cymbals...I guess they suppose to be big on this old model.

The Hi-Hat thing...I'll try that.

And that thing about chain linkage....I don't know how they look. My reference don't have them!

Oke guys...here is a little update!
I changed the size of the Hi-Hat and scaled the cymbals a bit.
Next thing to model is the snare!
Tell me what you think!

Hi-hat looks much better, although I still think that the rod protruding thru them should be thicker. Your model may not be that way, which I understand.

For the linkage parts I was refering to go to.....

http://www.musiciansfriend.com

There should be plenty of pictures there of different hi-hat and bass pedals there to get an idea of what Im talking about. Most of them work all in the same basic manner, so if you go with just the basic single bass and hi-hat pedals, it should put you on the right track.

Looking forward to seeing the snare. Dont forget about the throne (seat) either. And personally I would lose the "DRUMS" text.

Here is Mike Portnoy's kit....this would be bad @$$ to see modeled. http://mikeportnoy.com/about/drums/?menu=about

Seen Dream Theater live twice and he is AMAZING!!

My comment about the rod protruding thru the hi-hats should be ignored.

On your latest update it looks fine, I guess perhaps it was just the perspective of the previous image that was making it look awkward.

The snare looks really good! I like the detail to the hardware on the shell. Looks like its comin along pretty well. Looking forward to a textured version, soon??

I'm workin on it.
I tried a bump map but so far I didn't get much good results!
Look at this link...you'll see what I mean--->http://www.threedy.com/attachment.php?postid=78725

unexit : The dings would be more appropriate as a bumpmap, considering the small size of dent.

EF_studios: It's looking really good! Some of the items look alittle soft edges... like the foot petal metal frame... but I think this will really come together when textured

you said, you want to model a gigantic drumset, why not looking at the one from Iron Maiden and get some "impressions"? ;)

nice model man, very close into the details, dont really get the blue render though eventhough it has some sort of nice feel to it, anyway, keep it up man,...
