I am trying to animate a robotic arm picking up a vynil record and moving it over to the turn table. I wanted the robot to spin the record while moving. My problem is I cant figure out how to link the record to the claw without it applying to every frame. Basically I want to temporarily link two objects. Any suggestions?

maya: Parent Constraint

But it`s important to first parent your object to a null (max), or group it (maya) and then constraint that null/group to the hand. This way you`ll keep control over the record.

additionally, in maya, you may also want to constraint the record to the any other world transform node. that will allow you to smoothly blend beetween 0 and 1 state.

Thanks a lot dude, Ive since figured it out but Ill keep ill make some notes. I used a more complicated method.
