View Full Version : Help needed!!!! MOV files

i was rendering a 3dsmax animation, 1300 frames, it rendered for 20 hours had 45mins left and as i clicked a viewpoint and 3dsmax crashed!!!! it was being rendered to a MOV file which dosnt want to open anymore.. is there a way to recover what is there?

not a max user so i'm not sure, but as a general rule, it's much safer to render as an image sequence, that way if you crash you still have the rendered images up to that point. all your eggs in one basket and all that.
it's a simple matter afterwards to sequence the files in after effects or similar and export as a quicktime.

THere is not much hope on that problem. try it in quicktime pro or AE like an all eating app.
At least you should have learned your lesson well. Do render single frames. When your app crashes you only might loose one picture.
Because AE, Premiere, Avid,..... don`t have any problems with single files . And you have other advantages like with the rla-files, where you can store material-id's, object-infos and a lot of very usefull stuff, quicktime isn't offering.
