lightcache 01-07-2009, 01:45 PM hello guys. im currently wokring on this image using painter. it's based on an idea from the book gods demon and a nod towrds lowry.
im quite happy with it so far, considering im a modeller and not a concept artist lol.
but it seems a bit awkward. what do you think?

Hi
The thing here is that it doesn't so much look like you took it from an idea (text) so much as you cropped one of his paintings and to some degree copied his style. I hadn't looked at this painting in years (which is, of course, of Hell's army) but as soon as I saw yours it came right back. In your shoes I'd try to take your image much further away from his (different scene, different perspective etc) and put your own style into it. Otherwise it ends up a poor copy and will always be viewed that way.

yes it is too close i agree. not wanting to plaugurise, but in comparison it does look to similar.
i'll take it further away, though in my mind it didnt quite look so similar.
