Try Refraction, im not sure how it works or if its the right thing but you may wanna look into it.

alright, i completely forgot about the IOR for raytrace... but, the part of the image that is behind the glass becomes grainy. Any ideas what this could be?

Bizz, that's likely alias-artifacts. Check your Raytrace Globals and toggle anti-aliasing on. Be prepared for heavy performance-penalties though :), you're likely going to want to only turn it on for final renders.

If you are using a raytrace map then you can also turn on the materials supersampling, that way is (much) faster most of the time.

alright, this is what im getting. And this is with anti aliasing on, and supersampling. It is rather odd... I was fooling around with the attenuation for the light that i put in the cylinder, and it came out smooth... thought i had it, saved it, and when i came back to it, it was back to where i was..... and my problem is with the reflection of the sword, not the other icky stuff, thats just clipping, didnt want to wait to rendor another pic =)

mmm... too strange... i cannot understand how the hell you obtain something like this... may help if i could see the model... how you modeled the glass pot? r u sure this is not a multiple surface and the texture is tiled on?
boh? try to upload the model or show a wireframe, better... maybe we'll understand a bit more.
