I just threw together this glass and kinda like it.
I think the background makes the top look fake.

Tell me what you think.

I think the compression makes it look fake ;-)

Could you make it available at a higher quality?

Cheers,

brammelo, click on it for a bigger version. :)

It doesn't look ver glass like though, more like plastic, it doesn't seem to be translucent at all.

The bottom half looks decent enough. But there is something weird going on with the top.

the base and rim needs a bit more thickness to it.
check the glass thread at the top of the forum...in resource/shaders or something...

Lathe it instead of lofting, it'll be a lot less hassel and you'll be able to get the rim and base details better. If you've not got a constant cross-section around the lathe origin (eg. that green bit is square from the top down) , you can probably deal with that later using deformers or something.

yes i wanted to lathe but my lathing isnt realy up to par but i will get adobe illustrator up and running and make some decent splines

yes I know what you mean, one of my major gripes with C4D is its splines. IMO o be really worthwhile it needs to have all the benefits of vector packages like illustrator.

I always use an external app to make my splnes. The worst aspect is that you don't seem to be able to boolean splines together (unless I'm missing something!) I used to use Max alot for technical illustration and its spline handling was invaluable...having said that I'd still use a vector app for complicated splines.

My favourite app is XaraX (www.xara.com)...for those on a budget its cheap and cheerful ($149) and I find it 100 times faster than the both Freehand and Illustrator, which both seem to want you to wear your mouse out (and tear your hair out working out the differnence between the black and white arrow tools!!) just to get the profile you're after....

Does any one else think this is is it just me
