hi, im trying to make an animation.. in this animation, a building block is formed by clouds particle... this is how i am trying to achieve this.
i followed allan's "http://www.allanmckay.com/tut/u.swf".here is the screnshot of particle view schematics

as you can see building block is selected in position object and an animated deflector in collision test. the result i get is a movie like this

(the building block is animated using boolean and the source object for particle is hidden)
now i want to use afterburn to render this particles as cloud..but the result i get is this..

as you can see afterburn is rendering all the particles created by birth operator.. while i just want to render particles in event02.
can you guys suggest me some solution for this problem?

if you want afterburn handle a specific event, drag pflow-afterburn operator in taht event and from after burn window, select that operator. hope that helps.

Afterburn, when installed, adds a new operator to particle flow for situations just like this. I can't remember exactly what it's called, but it probably has ABurn in the name. Find that operator and add it to event 02. That should create a helper object in your scene for you to add to Afterburn instead of the whole Particle Flow system.

ok another silly question..
i want to add a delete operator to the particles.. to make them disappear gradually.. now all the particles were created at the same time so they all have the same age.. hence delete operator makes them disappear all at once... i want them to be at age 0 the moment they appear in the scene on the building block so not only that i can delete them after few frames but i can also control the size of sphere in afterburn (since i want them to be really tiny at their birth and then increase in size)
i thought id add an age test operator (with event age selected) in the event and pass them to next event where a delete (all particle) operator will delete them.. but its not working

sorry guys.. it looks like i could delete them and make them gradually disappear but still in afterburn i cant make them increase in their size

spawn seems to work.. here is a screenshot.. but is it the correct method or i can do better?

Not sure what you're trying to do, but when I'm using afterburn and want particles to dissapear I usually set them to fade out using animated density and such in afterburn and then delete them with a particle flow delete operator after they've become transparent. This way they don't pop away, but fade away.

To change the size you just animate the sphere size in afterburn.

i want the particles to be tiny the moment they are born on the pyramid block and then gradually grow in size.. now in afterburn size is animated by using particle age... since all particles are of same age the size of particle doesnt change as they go farther from the block

have you tried using variation in delete ? that would add variation.

AB animation only works when your particle has a predetermined death time so make sure your delete is working.

spawn solved my problem as i stated in earlier post..dont know if its the right method or not though.. well as long as it works.

You need to paste delete modifier in event2 and use collision spawn modifier. it have restart particle age too
