Someone over at postforum.com posted that LW wont be supporting OSX? I think this is a load of bull - but other than stupid people, can this be true?

Well, it does currently support OSX, and I don't see why Newtek would suddenly pull the plug. But...anything's possible, I suppose. I wouldn't get too worked up about it.

Well, if you can hear a siren-like noise, that's my b/s detector going off.

I don't know what made that idiot think that, but it wouldn't be true.

And if it is, well i guess i'll just have to 'switch' my 3D app.

Perhaps it was in reference to the new 64bit OS - "Panther" for their new machines.
I have to doubt whether LW8 will be available in a 64bit version on release. Maybe later, after there're 64bit PCs....

it takes no more then 15 mins to recompile to 64bit, so maybe they will :)

digitalshaman: maybe you should go work for NT and help 'em out. :)

If thats true, because mac is 64 bit, then they'd in the worst case, delay the release of 8 for Mac.

I was under the impression that there where already meant to be 64-bit PCs.

I don't know about the dark side. I would assume Bill has to make a 64bit OS, right? I heard something about 64bit PCs in September?
Well, if the new PCs (and OS) are soon on the way, then you would assume that LW8 would be available in 64bit form for both platforms.
You would assume.....

What about the Opterons? Aren't those 64-bit? But...there's no 64-bit operating system for them to be fully utilized, I guess...? I'm not really up on all of the technical stuff, but I'd have to think that Newtek will be releasing a 64-bit version of LW at some point for both platforms. It wouldn't make sense not to.

I believe it's more when then if, TripleG.

OT - What's the difference between "utilize" and "use"? I'm serious, because nobody says "use" anymore.

Utilizers are lose-ilizers...
