I'd either go with a less expensive system or hold out for a few months until competition forces the prices down and mainstream motherboards show up. The current motherboards are very expensive since they are targeted at early adopters and gaming users. Cheers!

I need a new rig for animating at home. I've sort of been out of the hardware loop for a couple of years and i'm trying to figure out how to get the best bang for my buck. Do I drop my hard earned money on a new i7 cpu and compatable mobo? or should i go with something like a Q6600, and spend the extra money on a better video card? I'm not a gamer... just looking for something that'll give me good maya playback and keep me from playblasting all the time. Thanks in advance for the advice! -blake
