Is there something im missing as usual or is maya five acting crazy? For some reason, the history on my model will not delete.
If i go back to a previous save, it deletes fine. What gives? Is this a known issue with Maya 5? I couldnt find it in the forums.
Im sure someone out there has a clue. Please fill me in. Thanks:shrug:

Did you use any sripts on your model?
Sometimes when you use scripts from other users, this will occur. I think it is because of the way these sripts work (how they create nodes etc..)

could you just export it as like a OBJ file or something? then import in it will all be cleaned up then.

Mjpoly tools will give this problem because it was made for Maya 4.0 . There it just works fine. I hope it will be rewriten so it is compatible with newer versions of Maya.

For solving this problem you could also select the object, open the hypergraph and press on "sho up/downstream connections".
You will now see all the nodes that are connected with your object.

Now you can mannualy delete al the nodes you don't want anymore. If for example your object is named "pCube1"
You should not delete the nodes "pCube1" and "pCubeShape1" and the "initialShadingGroup". Beacause that is exactly what Maya does when it correctly deletes history.

If it's just a mesh then a simple duplicate would do. The duplicate gets no history if you don't specifically tells it to keep history.

I always use it when things act funny while modelling.
