Hi!
I like when brush starts with color you choose and bleeds into colors on the canvas. If you start with blue color, but the canvas is red, the stroke you make will graduete from blue to red. In painter Bleed option is responsible to it. Could you help to get it in Photoshop?
Sorry if this was discussed, i have found settings for smudge brush that works fine as blend brush.

Turn your color dynamics on and set it to pen pressure. Then select the two colors you want to blend into each other. Play with your opacity settings also to get the result you want. In the end use the smudge as you would a dry brush when blending traditional paint.
