View Full Version : Radiosity: 'Single Animation Solution' is redundant?
fxgogo 06-23-2003, 05:25 PM Why is there a 'single animation solution' check box? As far as I understand it I could set Recompute to 'first time' and then check 'Save solution' to get the same result. Can anyone shed some light on this.

Hi,
Humm... AFAIK, for animation, 'first time' means every frame is 'first time', so radiosity calculations are done for all frames. But with 'single animation solution', for only the first frame it's done, decreasing noises caused by calculations per frame.

Well if you read the wording of both functions, they both say that if after the first frame, there is a radiosity solution, it will use that one for the rest of the frames.

Well, well, if you read the words carefully, 'first time' says about renders (of an image), and Single Animation Solution about frames (of an animation). These are different.
If you render an image again with 'first time', so you'd use the same radiosity solution saved before.
If you render another animation with 'first time', so you'd use the same sequence of radiosity solutions saved before.
Anyway did you try it?

No I did not try it, that might be a good idea....:)
