This is my current character animation demo reel. I used Maya for all 3D assets, Shake for compositing render layers, Motion for intro/outro graphics, and Final Cut Pro for editing. Any feedback will be appreciated.

Nice job buddy.
:)
That cheetah animation is the best I think. You really captured its movement well in it.
I think you put em in the right order of play and all the animation is pretty solid in my eyes.
Im just a noob to all this though, so keep that in mind.
If I had anything I would critique on, it would be the graphic part.
lol
Its kinda simple and I think a more professional look would add a bit more to the reel.
In one of my classes the other day, the art director came in and talked about reels and he said that you want the best of EVERYTHING in your reel, which includes how the text and graphic looks.
He said that its something little, but it does count and that employees look at that too, even though all they are hiring you for is animation stuff.
Sweet thing is, thats a pretty easy fix!

Happy New Years man!

Keep it up!

Nice work! I think the lip sync was the strongest element. I noticed a little popping here and there, and some IK lockout in the walk cycle. But still a strong effort.

I have to disagree with the above comment about the graphics. Ive seen fellas get jobs with absolutely no effort put into the presentation of their reel. If theyre looking for an animator, theyre looking at the animation.

Not that presentation isnt important, just more-so for modelers and compositors. So maybe blend in your title cards with the first and last shots instead of a straight cut?

Cheers

Not bad. I really liked the big guy skateboarding one.

Hey man, saw your reel.

Some crits:
-feels like a lot of your arms / limbs are IK, i'd highly recommend them being fk unless they need to be planted.
-Your wrists seems to be disjointed from your elbows, unless really forced, they tend to align with the forearm

Specifics:
-fat guy fall feels too long in the air, more arc to sell the time or slam him down quickly to sell the weight.
-bug lip sync had a lot of popping in the body, I'd suggest smoothing it out and reducing the ty
-pink backflip i'd remove, very poppy, nothing really surprising or stand outish.
-Trex could be really cool, however, the heavier objects are they typically move more smoothly. More Plant > Reaction rather then body jitter. Cameron Fielding does some amazing dinos: http://vimeo.com/2309524
-Panther section is nice, though the tail needs more action, its still feels very posey instead of flowing with the action

As for your graphics. Its a polish factor. Great graphics wont save a horrible reel, while horrid graphics wont banish your reel either. When in doubt lean on the the conservative side. A simple, non animation title screen with a fade to your work is fine. However, yours are pretty solid, though on the slow side. I'd suggest speeding them up, getting in and out of your work sooner.

Checked out your site, but the link was busted, is there a newer www?
