View Full Version : Morphing animation
Spearhead 06-23-2003, 03:27 PM Wondering on how to start my next project. A series of elemental creatures, fire and water and the rest of em =)
Modelling for stills isnt a problem, but if i want to animate how should i model them? For instance a water elemental taking shape from a puddle of water, and limbs flowing together if close to eachother. Kinda t2-like i guess.
I was thinking metaballs, but i havent used metaballs enough to model anything complex.
Has anyone any tips on this?

I think you have to use some deformer to make that kind of anymation, for instance for the t2 I think you have to deform your obj with MELT deformer and work on the strenght and position for the animation
Consider also taking a look into MOCCA because it has great stuff that make complex things very simple......

yes i considered melt aswell. i have started in the other end by now, modelling the mesh of the "finished" creature. when im done ill simply try the process backwards "melting" the mesh somehow.
ive not looked too far into mocca yet. just basic rigging. but i will fool around with it a bit.
just wondering, are there any commercial plugins a bit better than the built-in Melt?

just peeked at maxons tips & trick page. creating something with posemixer would be cool.
Puddle to fullgrown creature by the touch of a slider =P

hypernurbed mesh. what is best to do, paint with claude on the primitive or make the hypernurb editable first? Also if anyone see any problem-areas in the mesh let me know. Puns about the lack of hands can be spared ;)
Oh, and if you are an EQ-addict you should recognize this creature =P
