Hey guys. I'll start out by apologizing about the photo size. My photoshop is bugging up right now, and I just wanted to save 'em as fast as possible so i can upload and ask this question (For some reason whenever i alter an image the program freezes and chops up).

Anyways, I'll see if you can figure out the problem without me explaining it;

That's a viewport SS. Now here's the problem...

The render quality of the texture is horrible! I didn't want to go through the hassle of taking a SS of each window in the Render settings menu, to find out the problem is solvable without knowing the settings I'm using. But, if it's not possible, I'll gladly go and SS each page, since I am thoroughly confused and am lost on this subject.

What kind of shader is on the object, and what kind of lighting is in the scene? It's actually a bit hard to tell what's going on from your images - could you post a larger shot of the actual render?

Agreed. Bit more information would be helpfull: What lighzting(Settings) what renderer, what material?

I don't have any lights in the scene. It was just a test render because I wanted to see how the material reacted with mental ray (which is the renderer i'm using), so I didn't bother setting up lighting.

Here's a bigger render as requested.

The material I'm using is a 1600x389 brick texture. I didn't Unwrap the pillar, I just applied the texture to the object using the material editor, since I am horrible at texturing. :(

Those are the material settings.

That's all I could think of as the settings for the lighting in the scene. If I must, I can post the actual .max file so someone can take a look at it and perhaps correct it, because I'm bad at explaining. :(
