Hi all,

Apologies if this is a little OT but I looked everywhere and can't find an answer (includes Tech. and Hardware forum)

I am trying to run UnrealEd 3.0 on a machine with WinXP Pro and a Matrox Millenium G450 Dualhead.

When I launch UnrealEd the splash is displayed, then the display garbles, the resolution turns very very low, and the mouse pointer jumps around. The are no error messages, and only opening task manager allows me to close UnrealEd (with a bit of trouble.)

The same error occurs with only one monitor in use. I have dowloaded the latest patches and it still doesn't work. The game itself runs fine. I am running DirectX 9 and have the latest drivers for the card.

Is it a problem with the graphics card? I can try an old ATI card instead that might have better 3d support.

Thanks, I would really like to get this running. Anyone else out there on the Matrox card?

Very productive answer for a N00b.

I would definitely try the older ATI card. If that is not the answer, it probably lies in your system. Possilby something is corrupt. Reinstall windows. I am not particularly fond of XP, but I am sure that it wont make that much a difference in your program.

Make sure that you have the latest version of DX9 and do not have the DX9 SDK installed, as it conflicts with some of my older games. (garbling the screens and crap like that)

hmm. try reinstalling Unreal. i've ran UnrealED on two monitors with no problems [but then again that's on an Nvidia]. i do think UnrealED had problems with ATI drivers. do a quick search in this forum for "UnrealED" cause i think others have had the same problem. i've looked, but can't seem to find it.

thanks for the post ninjaboy, it's probably your last...

First step, you need to disable Ant-aliasing. There is a bug in the editor that will cause it to act funny if it's anabled.

Step 2 Update Unreal Tournament 2003 (you said patches, but I'm assuming it was for your video card)

I hope this works, if not, you may want to try posting this in the forums at www.masteringunreal.com (this is SLAYER the mod from 3d Buzz ;) ) and the offiicial UT2K3 forums at www.unrealtournament2003.com

try swapping out cards too, it may be a big pain, but who knows, it might work.

Cheers guys, I will try those things when I get my 2nd display replaced (it died). All of the software / drivers updates I've done are correct... I'm sure it's the card or settings for something. Right now the editor runs fine on the ATi though, so I can keep working.
