View Full Version : Creating a glass.

Ok I just did a tutorial on how to make blood cells. Even though it didn't look exactly like the authors it did look good. So now I want to try something else. I would like to learn how to model objects that are stationary before moving on to human heads and animals. For my next project I was hoping to model a glass. Kind of like a whiskey glass. Just sitting on a hardwood table top. Could any of you tell me where I might find a tutorial on this? I found one but it didn't give any kind of tutorial really.
My goals are:
A very lifelike 3dmodel of a glass.
A lifelike table top that I can position it on.
If you know of a place where I can find these in good step by step explinations I'd be very greatful. Thanks for the help.

Oh yea i was just wondering. I went through a tutorial for the download edition of maya and made an egg holder using nurbs... Does lightwave support nurbs?

that might help.
oops, you beat me to it :D
I thought pressing TAB turned on subpatches...?
I didn't know they were the same thing?
theres a tutorial that makes a sort of fantasy looking wineglass/goblet.

Subpatches are what's called "Metanurbs" in LW land. It's subdivision surfaces in reality. Lightwave doesn't actually support NURBS. I don't mourn that, though. NURBS aren't used all that much, anymore. They were big in the day when computer's couldn't handle displaying all of the polys. Now as long as you have a stand-in or a horsey enough box, it's not an issue. SubD's all the way.
