I absolutely love the mood. Pic reminds me of From Hell, movie starred by Depp.

Yes, exactly, i love the mood in the movie From Hell.
I 'm working on my personal project, a short movie in the same mood.

Hi Aldalorn,

That is a very nice image you have there.
Reminds me a bit of a painting I saw in the National gallery in London once (can't remember the artist).

The sky is the most inteesting part IMO. So maybe try to work some more of the brown, yellow and orange into the darker parts of the painting. I think it will become much more alive that way. Like it's on fire or something I mean.
It has the potential to be very good I think.

Please let me hear more about your short movie project. Anything that is inspirated by From Hell must be good;) But one perhaps very stupid question: did you made that completely on computer?
Just because it looks like you could still see the canvas uder the painting in buildings in bottom right-hand corner of the picture.

OKay! thx for c&c!

This painting it's not a digital painting but a traditional ;) so it explains the canvas ;)

Aah.

I tought so first, but then I noticed what I thought to be transparent human figure crouching on the roof in the left-hand side of the painting. Is it man with cap, or just a smog or something?

Very impressive for painting. Did it took long to fill the whole white canvas with very dark tones? I use mostly watercolours, and with those you're not filling anything:)

OK, for me the figure on the left side is like a form, just like a "phantom" of the city, i try to create a mood for the character... mmh... not really good... so.

To have the dark tones, i use acrylic painting and black drawing ink. For me, it's difficult to have a mood with this technique because the drawing ink is a very deeply black so you 've to create transparency with water and you don't have what you want since the first step!! :scream:

Give me

I envy you.
I'm so bad painting backgrounds or cityscapes. That is why I'm concentrating on characters making them in very high contrast, shadows being almost black and large bright areas with not so much as an outline. It is fast 'cause you don't have to draw much details in shadows(I lack patience to the level of one year old);)

Now I'm trying to have time to work on almost gothic vampire idea. Just checking how much one can squize out of such an used settlement, then moving to another...

Your painting inspires me, and I hope that you can post some more, or send them to my e-mail at ville_kinnunen@yahoo.com.

And forgive me my bad English. I'm not native and I'm trying to sound smarter than I really am:p
