Okay so I"m tasting a new Rib exporter for cinema 4D :) (finally we get one) Any one have suggestions on which is a little more user friendly and has god support for displacement.

The two I"ve been looking at the most are 3Delight and pixie.

I"m not looking for a flame war here weither, jsut some simple commments b\about how well they support displacement and how difficult they can be.

My concern with difficulty lies more with my time to test then with actually learning it.

From my experience, 3Delight is faster and more stable than pixie. However Pixie supports a LOT of features that 3Delight doesnt... specially the lattest RenderMan features.

I you are going to render stuff that doesnt requires photon mapps, irradiance caching or SSS, then i would go with 3Delight. Its really good for tests

good luck

All current available RMan compliant renderers support displacement mapping. Also all support it on the micropolygon level, naturally, more or less. I think exceptions are AIR and Pixie with some of its hiders.
My suggestion would be to use the new Darksim (http://www.darksim.com/) DSO to get access to some nice looking shaders quickly.

try Aqsis, it's free (get it at www.aqsis.com), has a big community and good displacements (as it is based on REYES like 3delight).
