View Full Version : Residual imprints around geometry - how?

Hi,

I don't know how to describe the problem better but I want to know how to make an effect like on the third image on that page:

and particulary the residual dirt that accumulated with time in places which are occluded by geometry in the scene. How do I know the actual place where the stairs/window for instance are in the scene so I can put dirt/wearing there later in Photoshop? Hope you understood my question. :D

You can do it a few ways. One way Ive done it in the past was to take an orthagonal snapshot (printsceen) and use that as a guide. The other is, if you have the ability, use your programs paint tools to draw a guide. A third is to bake the occlusion into a texture.
