Hey guys,
I just graduated from the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago with a BFA in Visual Effects & Motion graphics. I was first introduced to 3D Studio Max during a CAD class in 2002, and after a few years of experimenting with modeling and animation, I was so blown away by the ability to bring my imagination to life that I decided to pursue it into a career.

I use a combination of 3D Studio Max, Maya, After Effects, and Photoshop to create my work. I have also played with RealFlow, FumeFX, Boujou, and a variety of Trapcode AE plugins.

Having graduated, I'm now seeking employment as 3D and visual effects artist. Ideally i'd be working on feature films, but may end up staying in Chicago to gain some professional experience doing freelance work.

Anyway, my current compilation reel and an extensive portfolio is available on my website, and would love any feedback you might have!

I really like your website/showreel - it's nice a straightforward. Showreel at the start and then if you want you can delve deeper and look at individual shots and other stuff - spot on.

As for your work, some nice stuff - a lot more developed than mine. But then again I am more of an animator in the making and have spent a lot of time developing ideas rather than polished work, something that I am trying to redress.

Being a bit of a history buff I think that your trebuchets are doing a little too much damage and those arrows don't look right coming over from behind the castle - but that's only from a technical point of view it's look great as an effect. Watch Kingdom of Heaven, they have some great (if overdone) trebuchets in there.

Other than that building explosion, in which I think might have the chunk too big, excellent stuff.

Thanks for the feedback, Gazz! Yea if I were to redo the trebuchet shot, I'd probably use a bit bulkier ammunition that would be more likely to shatter the walls of the castle. The battle at Minas Tirith was my main inspiration, but admit I did overlook how large their projectiles actually are! I'd also like to incorporate other camera angles, such as a close up of the projectiles impacting, or a view of soldiers loading and triggering the trebuchets.

I skimmed YouTube for clips of trebuchets in Kingdom of Heaven, but only found infantry battles. Maybe i'll try to get my hands on the full film.
