Title: Sometimes it rains

I used a large 8000x8000 custom modelled terrain with a 300,000 instance grass ecosystem on it, along with a Spectral2 custom atmosphere model.

Part of my Elysium series. This particular image was inspired by the look of the terrain when it (occassionally) rains in the arid region I live in.

Very good work.

Just out of curiosity. What was your render time and the size of the render? I used Vue a couple of times and the render times were huge.

Either way awesome work.

Thanks. I rendered at 1600x490 using the Broadcast quality render settings. It took about 2h35m on a Core i7-965 Extreme with 6GB DDR3 RAM. I used Global Radiosity intensely on this one, hence the delay. Plus the load of the hundreds of thousands of plant instances.

Vue 7 is much faster than Vue 6, IMO. :)

Thanks! I just started using my cgSociety account. I usually hang out on deviantArt more.

This particular scene took me less than 25-30 min to create. Excluding render time.
