cant really see him, zoom out a bit! is he gonna talk? if so is his (metal) face gonna morph?

Yes he will talk with a flexible face. I don't much follow what should and shouldn't be flexible on these robots. Here's an example.

hey, he's kinda cute. couple of suggestions (sorry, but i dont see the point of post that just say 'yay :bounce:')
you may want to bring his eyes up a bit as they may get lost when hes talking, or theres a low cam angle. maybe a bit bigger too if he's meant to be friendly (which he looks). another thing is he does look a bit like he's wearing a nappy! doesnt really look like part of him.
but i do like the design and textures work cool. nice little animation too. be cool to see this guy moving, make sure you get plenty of belly bounce going!!
Saw this at cgchar too. Looks like a really fun character to animate. You can already feel the personality of him!:)

Great work. I really like the scuffs in his yellow paint that reveal the silver metal. Can we see some wires?

A bit of the lip-sync is sloppy.
Heres a wireframe of the low res control mesh. At render time he's bumped up usually to 3 iterations of meshsmooth.
The textures are around 2k. The final short will be rendered in HDTV format 1920x1080.
