jeteral 06-21-2003, 10:24 PM Is there anyone who can help me to understand how to use that dogone shellac material. I have looked at the book, and used the help menu and I cant find anything on how to use it.
I want to make some shellacked wood paneled floors for a project im working on right now, and im struggling on it.
I am using good old fashioned max3.1

I've been fighting with Shellac as well. Something about it that I can't quite put my finger on.
One time, though, I got lucky. I used Shellac to make a killer skin material. Too bad all I can remember is that one of the Shellac materials involved Fall-Off.
Something like...
One material had the regular colour map and specular was white.
The other material was a lighter version of the colour map.
Fall-Off was involved in there somewhere.
Basically shellac lets you add a material on top of you base material for additive layering effects. In the shellac material you can add a secondary highlight, more of a gloss, reflection parameters, etc.
Go to Neil's education page for more info and examples.
