This is a new project created by my students at the Media Design School. The bird in the film is called tui. It is a New Zealand native bird with a distinctive white throat tuft.

Woah...I loved it! Beautiful concept, and great execution. Was there motion blur on those birds? Sometimes their wings mid-flap looked a bit sharp. The CG branch integration was great. I thought all the branches were from the plates until I saw the breakdowns.
