View Full Version : Maya Ocean render artifact
drutter 12-19-2008, 10:26 PM Hi all,
I've encountered a problem while rendering a maya ocean plane + shader using Mental ray. I get these artifacts that I think are related to the tessellation. The scene has a physical sky and sun and is rendering with raytracing set to 1,1,2,1,1 and no final gathering. Has anyone else ever encountered something like this?
Thanks,
Dan

The problem is clearer in this view. I forgot to mention that I bumped up the tessellation for the ocean plane under the advanced tessellation settings and used the mental ray approximation editor to assign a tessellation setting of parametric grid high quality.

Never mind. Figured it out at this site:

I hadn't tweaked my tessellation settings quite enough.
Thought I'd let the black void of the internet know.
