View Full Version : Recording rotations with Maya's "record" node

Hey, I am gonna re-post this question here. Its been in the main Maya forums, but hasn't gotten any responses.

I was wondering if anyone knows how to record rotation data using the record node.
I have no problem recording transform or scaling data, only rotations seem to fail.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks,

Interesting. Never new of that command before.

I tried it out and it appears that a unit conversion node gets connected between the record node and the actual object attribute (which is expected because it has to convert between angular to linear values). But the record node I got had the correct values.

I was just curious, what do you specifically use the record node for? It pretty much looks like a keyframe node to me.

Hey Isoparm.

Thanks for the response. It is a keyframe node. But when you run the play command with the "record" flag, you can move objects in the viewport during playback and record those movements in to keyframes. So every attribute connected to a record node gets recorded. The thing is that while the transform and scale attributes get recorded properly, like you have seen...the rotations go through a unit conversion and do not record.
I want to find a way to properly record rotations when using the play -record command.
