Hi all,

Last nights scribbling, about 7 hours I think. Reference used. All textures are built up from scratch in PS. When I started, I thought I'd do a quick 1 hour sketch, but as the picture progressed, I felt stronger for it ... so I spent the extra time to render the details perfectly. My inspiration was a warm romantic feeling, and I think I managed to pull it off. I started painting with very saturated blue and red colors, but eventually I felt it didn't look right. Last stage was to give it a yellow grade, think it helps a lot.

Enjoy!

great as always henrik, always rated you work so highly. Although i dont know if youve rendered the details 'perfectly' (would have to see the ref) its got a great mood.
Wish u would post more.
hows the new job? :D

Henrik this is a

Beautiful.

However although as you stated the colour scheme succesfully brings out the warm romantic feeling you intended, imho your perfectionist nature (it seems to meby looking this pic ie the composition & architectural design) adds the stillness to this image, makes it rather cold.
What do you think?

Very, Very nice. I love still life and the feeling you convey in this one really is awsome.

The only crit I have is the white window trim (mostly the one on the right) is to brite for my tastes. Maby you needed it that way to "fill in" those areas?

I Love it,
Don

while all the parts look really good, and i was quite amazed to find out that the scooter is actually 2d i find the image a bit confusing to read..

i still cant figure out WHERE the setting is.. is it inside with the light seeping in through some hole in the ceiling ?? or outside and the lighting is coming from an artificial source under that roof-thingy?

Because of the small patch of light I think that the romantic feeling will finally turn to drama...:D
I love it!....

Really impressed, saw it on the frontpage and thought it was a 3D render. :-)

My only Crit is the Letters on the overhang...
It would fit in so much better if you did those by hand too...

I would second that... the tone of the light says sunlight, but the position and direction says artificial light...

It's a bit confusing, but overall, I like it.

Love the image it looks great, one thing about me that is really bugging me is the scooter, the details are out and so are the proportions, but this is only annoying me because its my bike, and I'm sure you weren't trying to create a copy than more of a mood.

Great job! The only thing i can say is that the sign on the cafe looks a little flat but thats about it. Great work, very artsy :applause:

thanks all,

Yes the text is a bit sloppy. I wanted to make it fit in better, but also I was tired after 7 hours of painting. It was the last thing I put in, so I just wanted to get it "out of the door".

One thing I've found when painting up the "structure" of a painting, it helps ALOT to get texture in it as soon as possible. Textured brushes gives you depth much faster than flat round ones, simply because pixel variation is bigger.
