View Full Version : Constant Particle Bursts?

Hello all,

Thanks for all of your help in the past, and once again, I have a question.

Is there anyways I can make a particle system in Max, emit particles beyond just once? Is there a workaround without the need of a commercial plugin? If I was to use a plugin, it needs to support deflectors and the default max forces.

I'm trying to make a heart pump blood, and the particle system shoots out one burst of particles, then another, then another.
I don't want to have 100 different particle systems because that would be a nightmare to manage all of their offset timing.

I'm willing to use Maxscript if this would solve my problem.

Burst at 10 Burst at 20, Burst at 30....:)

BTW, I'm using 3dsMaxR4. Any Suggestions?

Just animate the birthrate.

You can automate this applying a waveform controller(mode QUAD pulse) to the birth rate parameter and adjusting the parameters also

Wow,

Very clever. I had not even realized that controller existed.
I had never considered that was an animateable parameter.

Thank you very much!

Hey, I am a particle spray freak. I do all sorts of things with particles, so if you ever need any more particle help, just ask me.:p

Hey,

Thanks for the offer. Actually, once I figured that out, I was able to wire a slider with an on/off controller, then connect it to a particle system. The particle system has a list controller with the wire float, and the waveform controller underneath.

Then with the slider I can keyframe on and off when I need to.

Works great. Also works great for machine gun bursts!

Thanks again!
