View Full Version : Animation - Treads
fourd 06-20-2003, 09:42 PM Well, I've had max for about 2 weeks so far and it's going alright. I found a tut for Max3 on making treads for a tank, easy. Anyways, I wanted to figure out how to link the gears to each other for rotation, that way I only had to modify one gear to affect the rest. Help file helped me with that, so here's a short animation I did. (QT6)

How did you do your linking? Here's how i'd go about doing it.
Because not all grears rotate in the same direction I'd wire the rotation param and multiply the rotation by -1 so that adjecent gears rotate in the opposite directions
btw good job

Thanks...I wired them on the Y Rotation channel. The way the gears are here, they go all the same way. But instead of multiplying by -1, you can just stick a (-) minus sign in front of the Y.Rotation to spin opposite way if the rotation is 1 to 1.
