View Full Version : Increased rendertime!
Breed47 12-16-2008, 11:19 AM Hi!
Iīm working on an animation inside 3ds max 9 and xstream 6. Itīs a 32 bit system. Iīm very happy with the rendering time and all. But at home I got Vista 64 and 3ds max 2008. The rendering time are increased alot. Anybody had the same experience?

So, are you saying that your render times are bigger with your 64 bit system @ home vs your 32rig @ work or the other way around?
It could without knowing anything about your setup be due to hardware differences, different software eating up resources and a host of other reasons not to mention that if your 32bit system is xp it will actually be slightly faster then vista at itīs default state, but the difference shoudnt be huge.
The one big, and it is a big advantage with the 64bit system is the increased amount of ram, which will let you work with and render way bigger scenes then what your 32bit rig would be able to handle.

Well, at wotk I got a 32 bit XP station with maximum amount of memory. Intel dual core. Nvidia Quadro FX 4500. 3ds max 9 and Vue xStream 6.
At home: VIsta 64, 4 gig ram and Nvidia (canīt recall the name, but a very good one), 3ds max 2008 and Vue xStream 6.
Vista seems to be a bit sluggish even if I turn off all the fancy stuff. Iīve been wondering if max 2008 and xStream 6 are 100% compatible with each other...
By decreasing antialising in max Iīve been able to reduce rendring time. But everything has itīs price.
Iīm still vaiting for the download link from e-onsoftware. I ordered Vue 7 xStream by thursday last week. Still not a sound from them. Installed Vista Premium and 4 more gigs (total 8 gigs of ram) at work and max 2009. Hope itīll be faster than before.
Weird to type in english due to our origin...:-D
