I've just written up a tutorial for Maya/ After Effects users. It covers adding motion blur to a render by first creating a 2D motion vector sequence and then using it with ReelSmart Motion Blur in post production. Topics include the creation of ReelSmart compatible 2d motion vectors with Mental Ray render Pass system for Maya 2009 (via mv2DNormRemap ), as well as installation and use of lm_2DMV shader, the tried and true method. After Effects compositing steps are covered as well as general tips for creating motion vectors.
Enjoy!

Thanks !

So far I've been using a neutral (browngreenish) value as a surface shader for still objects in non-camera animated shots, but usign a mask seems like a smarter solution !

The next pain in the ass is do it in toxik =)
