Hi everybody there!!

Finally I'm taking part in this Contest. I started with the sketch two weeks ago..so...I took courage and now I post it...
The topic I chose to make this ilustration is"The Moirae", the three women who, according to the greek mythology, determine our destiny at birth using the thread of life. Since we are in the Victorian age, I believe that a Textile Factory would perfectly fit the context ...
Generally, these three sisters are illustrated as three elderly women. But for my illustration I decided to asign to them different ages according to the role they play in determinig our destinies...

I did some drafts of the machines, pipes, etc., so that I could understand better the concept of Steampunk...

I am making a post with the scene modelling process...
At first I made a quick modeling in order to locate all th e objects into the scene, to have an idea about the model space. I used this image of reference to draw the first sketch too..

The last one... In this step I used different ways for modelling the cauldron ... from primitives like cylinders, boxes, spheres, etc.. up to lines to do the pipes..

Great concept, and the modeling is really nice. I love the character design, especially the youngest Fate. The background machinery is nice, though it also would have been nice to see something a little more exaggerated in proportions to match the character design. I hope you can get it all textured and lit in the next week... good luck! :thumbsup:

The Greek word moira literally means a part or portion, and by extension one's portion in life or destiny. They controlled the metaphorical thread of life of every mortal from birth to death (and beyond). Even the gods feared the Moirae. Zeus also was subject to their power, as the Pythian priestess at Delphi once admitted; though no classic writing clarifies as to what exact extent the lives of immortals were impacted by the whims of the Fates themselves. A supposed epithet Zeus Moiragetes, meaning "Zeus Leader of the Morae" was inferred by Pausanias from an inscription he saw in the second century CE at Olympia: "As you go to the starting-point for the chariot-race there is an altar with an inscription to the Bringer of Fate. This is plainly a surname of Zeus, who knows the affairs of men, all that the Fates give them, and all that is not destined for them.


This is my third time entering CG Challenges and finally I finished one of them.

Finally I finished the changes...I decided to make a few changes to the image and try that it is like an old photo...I moved some ligths and added a few new textures too...
