Title: Yellow Ladyslipper Orchid
Name: Lars Braad Andersen
Country: Denmark
Software: Painter, Photoshop
This is mainly to be considered a technical exercise. I wanted to prove to myself that I still could make an "old-fashioned" realistic airbrush painting, using Painter and the Wacom airbrush pen. (These days I work with 3D most of the time).
It's made with a photo for reference, but drawn/painted completely from scratch, using something resembling traditional airbrush technique very much - creating numerous masks etc. as shown in the picture.
The background is imaginary, and though the airbrush work was done without masking here, I wanted an extra Depth-of-Field effect, which was applied in Photoshop using the gaussian blur filter.
Toolbox: Photoshop CS, Painter X, Wacom Intuos 3 tablet (A5 wide).
Original size 1500x2000.
Thanks for taking a look, hope you like it. Comments etc. welcome and appreciated.
Have a nice day
- Lars
