Hey guys! This is my first shot at a CGChallenge, so please let me know if I'm doing something wrong... I tried to read all of the rules, but who knows, I may have missed a few...

I'm a little late getting into this one, but I like the concept and I'm going to give it a try, thankfully I have some characters already made! :)

Backstory:
This is the final result of an age old battle. These battles have been fought since the cave man. The battle and the tactics have been passed down from generation to generation for thousands of years. This is Man vs. Food. This particular segment is the final battle for my two characters, Slacker Teen & Sandwich Guy
(real original names huh? :))
The battle takes place atop a Mayonnaise jar. The first one eaten or chucked off of the lid loses. This is a battle driven by hunger, fuled by desire, and ended with lunch.
No matter the outcome, the battle will rage on from now 'till eternity!

Hahah.. sounds like fun to me!

Nice models; looking good so far. Two questions:
1). Is it Helmann's or Miracle Whip?
2). Are one of them going to fall into the mayonaise, or just off the top of the jar?

As far as brand... I was thinking Mayonnaise O' Doom ;)

The ending is still up for debate... however I am leaning towards falling into the mayo.... the trick is going to be getting the lid off first :)
I think a little Warner Style run will spinning the lid, pop open and we all fall down type of maneuver should do the trick...

I'm gone this weekend but on monday I should have some semblance of a storyboard :)

see you guys later!

Nice camera work =) The run/jump at the end look a little slow tho.

hahah... thanks for the comment on the camera work:) The timing is still crappy on it but I think I like the feel...

As far as the jump.. I totally agree... I don't think that I'm happy with the downstroke pose though... I'm going to change it to a "down on one knee" type of thing....

Ok had some time today... my new update :)

I have changed the ending yet again... The final blow
will be the kid running joust like at the sandwich... and the
sandwich steps out of the way and trips the kid...
The kid is now hanging off of the jar holding onto the knife
which is being stepped on by the sandwich... The sandwich picks his foot up allowing the knife to fall taking the kid with it :)
Sounds like fun... however I don't think it has the right kind of pace to it... I want one character being beaten until the very very end.. I don't think this is near the end enough...

anyway here is the link!

Let me know what you guys think about the blocking and the story! thanks!

The blocking looks great. This is a great base for the animation. Very clear motion, nice camera work. Creates a "showdown"-tension although there isn't much time to do a "Once upon a time in the west" ;)

The ending isn't clear in the animatic yet, but it'll be a nice suprise :applause:

Ok the major part of the blocking is done...
Some of the camera angles need tweaked and
some of the timing between poses feels a little sluggish...
Thats next! :) major timing...

so the majority of the blocking:

aight! New update...
Linear keys pretty much done... still some poses that don't
read fast enough... and a bunch of stuff is still stiff, but
curves will soften most of it.... enough talk.. LINK:
