Hello,

I stumbled upon this the other day while looking for texturing apps: 3D-Coat (http://www.3d-coat.com/texturing_sculpting.php?un=6879)!?

Has anyone used this? Some of the videos look good, and like it has a lot of options...but can it be trusted? Is it buggy? Sorry, not trying to offend anyone, I just haven't even heard of this program and now it's up to v2 and v3 is coming out soon with volumetric sculpting etc. The site is horrible IMHO...but I guess that can be over looked...

I own zbrush, and have been evaluating mudbox, but this looks interesting even just for the texturing since price is so low (I think it's like $150 or something).

What about system requirements? Sorry just trying to figure out this USO (unidentified software object) and if it's usable for texture work etc. I wouldn't mind something that has multilayered texturing to work with esp at this price point.

Thanks,
Jim

I'm using 3D Coat and in my experience is great for 3d painting, in v2 sculpting is limited.
You should download trial and give a try. 3D Coat has some features that other 3dpaint apps don't have(don't know about body paint), eg psd layers export. Works very smoothly and exports maps quickly.
When v3 gets out the price will be about 200$. I like view port navigation but layout is not
nice as in mudbox. On my machine(amd 3800 2x, 4gigis ram, nVidia 8800gs 640) works great.
Layers are almost like in ps. I never had a crash! Version 3 is very promising, it will become
serous competition to zb and mudbox.

I hope this helps

Cheers and download trial it want hurt!

OK, time to give it a try- I'll write back what I think. Layers are something that I really wish other paint applications had- bodypaint does...but the price is a little different (though it's great for bg painting etc.)

Thanks!
