I'm trying to create a Chain Up Vector. The tut says to select the thigh bone, chose Chain up vector, then select the null, and a "triangle" is supposed to show up.

The problem is the triangle isn't showing up, so I don't think the Chain Up Vector worked properly.

Any help is appreciated.

focus on whatever viewport you are using
hit shift+S ( corresponds to visibility options under the eye icon) anc check in the Attributes tab.

the "triangle" is the chain critical zone, wich you can activate the visualization of from a checkbox somewhere in the middle of that list :)

first column of checkboxes is for show on selected, second is for show on unselected.

also, to check constraints and how they are linking objects, the schematic offers a pretty good overall view.

last but not least an upvector is meant to influence the chain's operational plane, to check if it works all you have to do is move the constrainee and see if the chain rolls accordingly.

I'd suggest you also dig the manual a bit while doing the tutorials, you can sure use some looks into visualization and interface topics to make your life easier.

OK, ok, you got me. Thanks, it just wasn't visible. DOH!

Actually I did look into the Eye Icon, but didn't look into the visibility options. I have gone through the EXP tuts, starting with number one, and I've read through quit alot of the manual. I've been doing the tutorials since Sunday. I'm on number seven and counting.

But you how it is... you get excited, the material and tools are enormous, but you want it all at once. Yeah, that's how I am.

I'm really excited about animating, and the rigging process is so beautiful in XSI, that I just have to see how the animating flows!

Oh! and I love the spine! WHOA this is awesome.
