Title: Against the Light
Name: matt board
Country: USA
Software: Maya, mental ray, Photoshop, ZBrush
This is a character that I have been working on for the last month. I thought she was finished, but after some really good feedback I decided to work her up to a more finished level. I wanted to get a nice painterly light on her....something one might see in an Odd Nerdrum, Dutch or Flemish Painting...
I was trying to imagine an unconventional version of an angel and this is what I came up with...after looking at the image for a while the title came to me. I am also trying to push working in a limited palette of only orange and blue. For instance, how many different oranges and blues can I get in one image. Some of the blues drift to green and some of the oranges drift to red or yellow...
I modeled her in maya and ZBrush, detailed and Normal Mapped in ZBrush (I also used the NVidia Normal Map filter plugin.) Hair is poly planes with transparent textures...3 point lighting in a simple set, rendered in mental ray.
