YO G on my side of the street we have joints in the sidewalk and the walls around here are really beaten up by car wreckes, grafitti, old posters and spit. And for some reason the moon casts this strange glow on the ground, We have stared at it for many a days and still can't figure it out. Need I saw that around this ol'G's territory we have this problem of junk floating all over the ground, What doesn't our food stamps coverage cover the city to clean up after US. Needless to say your scene is really bland and it needs some character. IT'S TO STERILE LOOKING. You want it too look gansta then make it gansta YO!! OH Textures are nice once in a WHILE TOO.

Better jump your resolution up to get a clearer render and hit your anti aliasing up to production quality....... G-Dog

It's just because i use the blend render filter. I try with quadratic now, with some light inside the club.

yeah.. getting better. those stairs and concrete things by the door all have to go. they look too sci fi and not realistic at all.

i take it you're going for old gangster and not new hip hop gangsta. at least i hope you are.

also your door looks like concrete and it's going right up to the edges of the bricks which is unrealistic. there's usually a frame around the door and they're usually made of painted metal. a handle might be a good idea and a sliding little window instead of some jailhouse bars. and get rid of that sidewalk texture.. this isnt a beach with pebbles. it's a concrete sidewalk.

also that light above the door is way off. too modern. maybe try having a streetlight making the light or put some sort of industrial looking light on the wall. the single bulb kind with the metal cage around it or something.

finally.. get some reference. it'll help.

here's an image i wanted to duplicate. it gives you some ideas on the wall texture and the stairs that run sideways.

also.. do you really think the mafia would hang out in a place that said "GANGSTACLUB" on the door? i think you should try to show it rather than print it on the door.

i do like the light coming from the long window thing on the ground.

Looking lot better.
A good texture for the side walk will bring this pic into a whole new realm, as for the pillar things and the stairs I think they are fine. They give a upscale look to the building, although with a door thats all busted up they might be out of place. Try to add a good cinder block look to them. The stairs need to be roughed up some with dirt as if someone has walked over them for some time... The lower window is sweet, As for the light above the doorway. Get rid of the light coming from the top, THAT is out of place. d8ed could be right about the frame around the doorway, although working in construction a time ago I did see hidden framed doors. Yours looks fine to me. REMEMBER it is your design.....:applause:
Cast the moonlight onto the entrance more, it looks good so far...
One more thing.. Your bump on the walls is a bit too tall, tone it down to something around .175 if your app lets you. I found that this is a good bump level for beicks in maya.. GOOD JOB.....

all my comments and suggestions stem from the fact that films have portrayed mafia hangouts as non descript on the outside. this is getting better by the minute but it doesnt reflect the true style of the mafia hangout as shown in the movies. this looks fine for a mafia style club in modern day new york or whatever. and it's improved by leaps and bounds since this morning. HUGE leaps and bounds. =)
