here are some pool things i made
they are for a bigger project, but i just want some feedback from you pro´s aout the lightning, textuering etc etc
and btw, i know the numbers are quite strange, but according to Mr.Google, these high numbers are perfectly ok :)
update: the final renderings are on page 3

they look a bit to shiney to me. I would also add in some scratches, seeing that you are going for realism.
I would work a bit more on the color bleed of the circles and numbers.
How bout a green pool table material for the ground?
Looks good for a pair of spheres  :D

another update
i will work more on the ground and try to add some scratches
good work on the lighting, but the texture now looks a little too blurred, and u must play on some very wierd pool tables if they are made of china ;)

the texture is actually from a blanket, but you aint playing pool on those either so you are right anyway :)
but i will work more on the ground and add some scrathes and tweaking the ball material
but i kind of like the blurry thing
i think the texturing looks fine. it's got that porcelaine look to it. the only problem i see is the fact that the camera is extremely close to the balls and if that were to happen in real life you'd need some intense depth of field blurring. as for the ground texture.. it would probably be better to put them into their environment.. a pool table. so i'd recommend a felt ground plane. it's more familiar that way and will look more.. "right"

Wow these do look ultra real but in real life pool balls sometimes get shot off the table and get scrathes from hitting the floor. Like mentioned above, if your going for realism than you should add these little scrtathes. Don't go overboard on it though, they should be barely visible as they are in real life.

The blur helped a TON and I dig the bleed on the numbers a lot.
Still wouldnt mind seeing a couple scratches...

Hey, great job on the pool balls, some scratches on them and they are perfect. I was wondering what you did to achieve the look. From your first posted picture to the second was a shift that made the pool balls look realistic. Did you just apply a blur to the texture of the balls to get that bleeding? or is this something more involved ( like SSS for instance ) ? Id like to know because I think you have the look nailed.

I liked watching the progress you've made. They really do look "real" now, including the newer colors and numbers.
The only extra item to add might be a blue chalking cube in the background on the bumper. Or even a second table in the background with a pool lamp above. Maybe even some smokey fog feel like you might find in a pool hall.
Great work!

WHy is it that everybody thinks that adding scratches and dirt makes EVERYTHING more realistic? This is a fantastic render. Leave it the way it is. I love the way your balls glisten : ).

1 thing. The yellow-white striped ball is not the 13, the 13 is orange-white....the yellow-white is the 9 ball

i would take the blur off the textures, before they looked very photoreal, the still look photo real, but with the blurred texture they dont look like pool balls anymore.
