View Full Version : Lighting a room problem

Hello friends.
i was doing a lighting test with a room placing a chrome ball in the room
i am facing some problems.
here is how i setup my scene
1. used 3 area lights on three windows connecting portal lights to the light shader under mental ray tab in lights attributes. also turned on the light shape as disc with 32 samples.
2. Used mental ray sun and sky.
3. final gather 100 accuracy.
4. Deleted the simple exposure lens from the camera and sky and replaced it with mia photographics exposure with cm2 factor 5000, but i did not connected the lens to the sky , its just connected to teh camera lens
5. i also used automatic mapping and texture + bump on the walls

6. i am using MAYA and MEntal ray
Problems
1. i am getting weird black spots on the walls. if i increase the final gather render time increases way too long.
2. there is not enough light in the room , i dont kn ow why, after i am using the sun i much have nice light in the room. any idea why.
3.why the color out side the windows is white, it should be blue, i notice this change after i replaced the camera lens with mia photographics lens.
4. and why is my ground showing blue and roof of seperate color.
any sueestions will good.
