This is my contribution to the "beautiful" challenge at cgarena.
i made it by sculpting the nebula in mudbox, then imported the mesh into 3dsmax.
after this i redenderd the nebula mesh with different shadings:
lit, fresnel at different settings, noise, noise shaded, etc...
then done compositing in photoshop.

the ship interiour was rendered with mental ray in 3dsmax.

the planet was rendered in scanline renderer in 3dsmax with fresnel shadings.

I absolutely LOVE the colors. But the nebula looks a bit to solid, especially the lower part.

thank you Pifli. i agree with you. i should have better done some second fogs around the bottom, like i also did in the center..
