Hello,

I'm trying to find a combination effects to achieve this kind of final image:

http://www.seventy75five.com/public/misc/halftone_how.jpg

Obviously I need a halftone effect of some sort (which doesn't exist in AE).
I looked around for third party plugin, but didn't find much.

So if anyone has some ideas on how to create this style, please let me know!
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you much!
M.

nb. My knowledge is limited to AE, but I'm open to other software suggestions.

photoshop and illustrator can both do half-tone style dots...

I have been doing this style of graphics all the time, if you want it you can export your quictime movie as filmstrip .flm and apply the PS filter halftone, done.
Another company that can offer these plug in is called Digieffects Bersek http://www.digieffects.com/products/demos/berserkDemos.html, check it out.

I dont remeber but there is Petes plug in, and another big company but there is my friend you have to research a bit.

Well, you did not nearly look hard enough (no offense). Apart from Pete's Plugins (outdated and not save to use with CS3 or later) and the already mentioned Berzerk effect, halftone pattern generators are included in the Sapphire suite and one of the Tinderbox collections. Also, Philipp Spoeth still offers his Retrodots plugin on his website. Furthermore, automation in Photoshop or its video editing features introduced in CS3 could be used to apply the effect to image sequnces or short clips. alternate ways of doing this in Ae include creating custom patterns using e.g. Trapcode Form.

I might think you should be able to reproduce this effect with CCBall, but i havent try it.

Of course you could. Though you won't be able to control the screen angle easily, which is probably the dealbreaker. Another alternative that springs to mind is Card Dance and last but not least Particle Playground of course. almost too many options to try them out at least once in your life... ;-)
