Well I just had a hard week since I just started working on january the 3th!

Anyway...here comes some wip! The main thing is going to be the Chariot of the Sun made as a bike!

This is the final model

Details will follow!

This is the heart of he clockwork machine: it spins the suncrest wheel and it gives power to the lantern...

This is the actual shape of the Sun Chariot... It spins, it shines and it flies thanks to that set of oars

This is after few hours in photoshop with custom brushes that simulate a dry brush effect...

This is the shoot I'm going to work with...

Not so special right now but with few render passes and a lot of photosop it will be way better!

The coloring will be done by hand in photoshop, I'll render only a few passes for compositing sake:
.occlusion and shadows
.specular, but with a flat blinn for everything, I'll take care of singular spec in post
.fresnel for better illumination, an for lightwrapping and similar

that's about it but will be enough...;)

I'll add a matte background looking like a roman/greek ruined shrine or something...

This is an image found random on the net that is perfect for my matte!

This is the simplest matte...but it?s good for my image cuz it?s not too present and gives a nice grim look...

This is a snapshot of my compositing in photoshop...as you can see it is no big deal!

After letting it rest for a night I wen back to add a slight amount of mould/fog to blend the poles with the matte just a little more...still no big deal!

This is my final image.

?Sol Invictus??

The image represents the Chariot of the Sun witch in the late Roman mythology was called Sol Invictus: the Invincible Sun

This SteamPunk version in more like a bicycle with clocklike gears that could make it fly...but as you can see the Sun is sunk in darkness and there is nobody that rides it.
The irony is that it still flies but it?s a fake!

The moral behind the image is that in dark times the Sun is still invincible, but not because it can?t be conquered, but because it can?t be ridden!
