I created a honey bee in 3dsmax to be composited into some live video. In the meantime, I composed this little piece to show off the bug.

I don't believe that bees are that furry :hmm:
but nice work

the wings should be (folded) on top. not on its side.

Not bad at all- but the bees lack a certain amount of detail and definition and at the moment they look like furry toys - the hairs on bees are a lot fewer and more interspersed and random.

I redid the wings on the bee, also I edited the tail-end a bit, to try to make it look more like an exo-skeleton, and tinkered with the fur back there. What do you think?

The only thing that you should add (the first thing i noticed) would be specularity in the eyes... They seem too unlit to bring out the life of the bee.

Maybe widen the wings more also.
Notice on the picture that the guy up there posted how the wings cross over each other... Make sure to do that as well.

Fur needs some work as well... Just doesn't look right.
